Moving Sales Scripts That Actually Book Jobs
Proven phone scripts, text templates, and email sequences used by top-performing moving sales teams
The Right Approach to Sales Scripts
The best moving sales scripts sound natural, not robotic. They provide a framework for consistent, effective conversations while leaving room for genuine human connection. Your goal is to guide the conversation, not read from a teleprompter.
Every script in this playbook has been tested in real moving sales environments. They're designed to accomplish specific goals: build rapport quickly, gather essential information, address concerns, and move toward a booking.
Script vs. Conversation Memorize the key phrases and structure, then deliver them conversationally. The prospect should feel like they're talking to a helpful expert, not listening to a recorded message.
Initial Lead Response Scripts
The first call sets the tone for the entire relationship. These scripts prioritize warmth, efficiency, and gathering the information you need to provide an accurate quote.
Standard Opening
"Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] with [Company]. I'm calling about your moving inquiry. Is this still a good time to talk about your upcoming move?"
If they say yes, continue: "Great! I'd love to help you out. To give you the most accurate information, let me ask a few quick questions about your move."
Essential Discovery Questions
- "When are you looking to move?" (Confirms timing and urgency)
- "Where are you moving from and where are you heading?" (Origin and destination)
- "Is this a house, apartment, or condo? How many bedrooms?" (Size estimate)
- "Are you moving everything, or just certain items?" (Scope)
- "Any large or unusual items - pianos, pool tables, safes?" (Special handling)
- "Any stairs or elevator access we should know about?" (Access challenges)
Active Listening After each answer, briefly acknowledge what they said before asking the next question. "A 3-bedroom house in [neighborhood], got it" shows you're paying attention and builds trust.
Transitioning to Quote Discussion
"Based on what you've told me, here's what I'm thinking for your move..." Then provide your estimate range or explain next steps for an in-home or video estimate.
"We could have a team there on [date] to get this done for you. The investment for a move like this typically runs between [range]. Does that work with what you had in mind?"
Objection Handling Scripts
Objections aren't rejections. They're requests for more information or reassurance. These responses address the most common objections without being pushy.
"That's more than I expected" (Price Objection)
"I understand, moving is a significant investment. What we include is [key value points - professional crew, insurance, equipment, no hidden fees]. Many customers tell us they're glad they chose reliability over the cheapest option. What matters most to you in choosing a mover?"
Alternative: "I hear you. Let me ask - what were you hoping to invest in this move? Maybe there's a way to adjust the scope to fit your budget, like if we focused on the heavy furniture and you handled the boxes."
"I'm getting other quotes" (Shopping Objection)
"That's smart - you should compare. As you do, here's what I'd look for: Are they licensed and insured? Is the quote binding or can it change on move day? Do they have reviews you can check? We're confident in our pricing because we do exactly what we quote. When are you making your decision?"
"I need to talk to my spouse/partner"
"Absolutely, it's a big decision. Would it help if I sent over a summary you can share with them? What questions do you think they'll have? I'm happy to be available for a quick call with both of you if that would help."
"I'm not ready to book yet"
"No problem at all. When do you think you'll be ready to make a decision? I'll make a note to follow up then. Just so you know, dates fill up quickly in [peak season/this area], especially for [their moving date]. We can always hold a spot with a small deposit if you want to lock in availability without full commitment."
Follow-Up Call Scripts
Most moves aren't booked on the first call. Strategic follow-up separates top performers from the rest.
Same-Day Follow-Up (4-6 hours after initial call)
"Hi [Name], it's [Your Name] from [Company] again. I wanted to make sure you got the information I sent over and see if any questions came up. How are you feeling about everything?"
Next-Day Follow-Up
"Hi [Name], [Your Name] with [Company]. I know you were comparing options for your [date] move. I wanted to check in and see where you're at in your decision. Is there anything I can help clarify?"
Final Follow-Up (Before their decision deadline)
"Hi [Name], I know you mentioned deciding by [date]. I wanted to reach out one more time before then. We'd love to handle your move, and I can still get you on the schedule for [their date]. Is there anything holding you back that I can address?"
Text Message Templates
Text messages have higher open rates than any other channel. Use them strategically for quick touches that don't require a full conversation.

Voicemail Scripts
Keep voicemails under 30 seconds. State your name, company, reason for calling, and callback number clearly.
First Attempt Voicemail

Second Attempt Voicemail
"Hi [Name], [Your Name] from [Company] again. Still trying to connect about your move on [date]. I have some availability information I'd love to share. Call me at [number] or reply to my text if that's easier. Hope to hear from you!"
Voicemail + Text Combo Always send a text immediately after leaving a voicemail. Many people prefer texting and may respond to the text even if they wouldn't return a call.
The best scripts in the world only work if you actually use them consistently. Practice these until they feel natural, adapt them to your style, and track which approaches generate the best results for your specific market.
